Metalmaster started as a sheet metal fabrication company in a small garage in 1977. From those humble beginnings, the company has expanded its capabilities to include architectural metal roofing and panels, rubber roofing and related roofing products such as the very successful Sno-Gem line of snow guards. George and Gloria Smeja founded the company on Christian beliefs, strong family ties and an uncompromising commitment to service and quality. Sons Michael and Daniel Smeja grew up in the business and now serve as vice presidents and partners in the business.
When Berridge Manufacturing Company began marketing its program of site-forming of continuous-length standing seam steel roof panels over twenty years ago, Metalmaster quickly recognized the powerful potential of this new technology and became one of Berridges first licensees. Since then, Metalmaster has used Berridge metal roofing to complete a long series of landmark projects in the Chicagoland area.
