Mandal's, Inc. began as a partnership between the late Frank F. Mandal and James A. Cooper, now retired. Founded in 1946, the Gulfport, Mississippi based contractor operated as Mandal's Roofing and Sheetmetal Works until Mr. Mandal's death in 1963 when the firm was incorporated as Mandal's, Inc. Through more than five decades of growth, Mandal's has become one of the Gulf South's leading roofing contractors.
Any company can claim it has a commitment to excellence but Mandal's has demonstrated its commitment through more than fifty years of client satisfaction. Mandal's has been the recipient of numerous awards, including four letters of commendation from the U.S. Navy, an honor bestowed upon few contractors.
The Grand Casino in Gulfport, Mississippi is a good example of how Mandal's has applied all its resources to solve special roofing problems: The huge floating casino required a brightly-colored aesthetic appearance, yet capable of withstanding 100 m.p.h. winds. The unique curved roof design was covered with metal roofing panels formed on site with a Berridge portable roll former and coil material prefinished with 20-year PVDF bright blue paint. Mandal's completed the entire project within 90 days and received a national award citation from the Associated Builders & Contractors, Inc. for this outstanding achievement. The Grand Casino project was managed under the direct suppervision of Chris Cooper, Vice President of Mandal's.
As James Cooper, Mandal's president states, "our first project with Berridge was the Grand Casino. By using Berridge coil material and on-site forming equipment we were able to exercise total control over both quality and production scheduling." We used matching Berridge flat sheet to fabricate custom flashing and trim for the project." Mr. Cooper sums up Mandal's business philosophy this way: "We are committed to doing only the highest quality work and Berridge site-forming equipment and coil material lets us do this -- we can do a totally custom job to fit exact as-built conditions.
