Berridge Vantage Point Retrofit Case History

MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COLLEGE

"We were concerned about the feasibility of this project -- Berridge made it relatively easy!" said Project Architect Gary Randall of S/A/M Architects in describing the formidable challenges posed by the retrofit roof over the Science Building on the Mississippi Gulf Coast College campus. Randall describes the existing building: "....it’s a non-symmetrical, ‘egg’-shaped elliptical structure -- about six inches out of round, nevertheless, Bobby Marks, Berridge’s staff engineer didn’t shy away!"

The goal was to provide the old, flat, deteriorating roof on the Science Building with a new, water tight roofing solution which matched that of newer neighboring structures on the campus. The design solution was to use Berridge "Vantage Point" light gauge galvanized structural framing members and the Berridge Zee-Lock Double-Lock structural standing seam roof system prefinished with full-strength Kynar 500 Medium Bronze long-life coating. The end result "exceeded our -- and the owner’s expectations" reported Gary Randall.
