Kirtley Sheet Metal:

A Family Tradition of Honesty, Integrity, Quality

SSeated: Philip Kirtley, President; Standing, Left to Right: Connie Kirtley, Vice-President; Darrell Kirtley, Head of Estimating; and Philip Kirtley Jr (P.J.), Project Manager.

Kirtley Sheet Metal was founded in 1981 by PhilipKirtley.. The company installed built-up roofing, mainly for commercial buildings in the Houston area. Upon forming his own company, Philip began a transition into the relatively new field of standing seam metal roofing. The trend of metal roofing was rapidly growing stronger in the Houston area and Berridge Manufacturing Company, founded in 1970, was establishing a reputation as a leader in the relatively new field of architectural metal roofing. Kirtley Sheet Metal began to install various types of metal roofing, including some aluminum shake shingle jobs using Berridge products. Commercial projects which utilized standing seam roofing would comprise the majority of Kirtley Sheet Metal’s metal roofing work over the next three decades, while the firm also offered several flat roofing products..

In the mid 90’s Kirtley Sheet Metal began using Berridge portable roll forming equipment to fabricate continuous length standing seam metal roofing panels, and thus began a new process which would virtually revolutionize the company’s mode of operation. Phillip Kirtley describes the transition to site-forming: "We found there was no comparison with buying factory-made standing seam panels from other companies -- with site forming our own panels, there is no waiting for delivery and we are in control of the job schedule from start to finish!"

Kirtley Sheet Metal purchased a Berridge Model SS-14 Tee-Panel Standing Seam portable roll former in 2001 and a Model CL-21 Cee-Lock Standing Seam portable roll former in 2002. They utilize their portable roll formers both in the shop and at the job site for panels longer than forty feet. Kirtley’s modern sheet metal shop is also equipped with a computerized sheet metal brake for fabrication of custom flashing, coping, trim, gutters and downspout accessories to complete the job.

"We found there was no comparison with buying factory-made standing seam panels from other companies -- with site forming our own panels, there is no waiting for delivery and we are in control of the job schedule from start to finish!"

Today, Kirtley Sheet Metal is a family-owned and operated business whose keys to success are honesty, integrity and unwavering dedication to quality. Philip Kirtley is President, his wife Connie is Vice President. Both of Phillip’s sons are also active in the business: Darrel Kirtley is Head of Estimating while Philip Jr. (P.J.) is Project Manager. Daughter Beth Kirtley is the company’s receptionist.
